The U.S. business-to-business arm of Sharp Electronics Corporation (Sharp) has a simple slogan that concisely captures its corporate philosophy: Simply Smarter Business. It’s an approach that lines up well with Moonsun Park, who has served as CFO of the B2B and consumer innovation company since 2018.
Park’s journey with Sharp started in 1998, when she joined the Montvale, N.J.-headquartered company as accounting manager, securing an insider’s view of the Finance workings. After two years, following the birth of her second child, she changed her work schedule to two days a week for nine years but Park continued to deliver outsized results despite her reduced hours.
“During that period, I worked with my team to develop a number of initiatives, including replacing a ponderous, paper receipt-based travel and expense reimbursement system with a streamlined one,” she recalls. “Among other initiatives, we worked with ADP and American Express to integrate employee AMEX cards with our general ledger system, so expense data would flow into our financial systems every time the card was swiped.”
